Another win in Hockenheim
Jamie Green finished off the 2007 DTM season in fine style with his second straight win at Hockenheim.
Jamie made a strong start and passed Tom Kristensen early on to take the lead. Once in front he was able to pull out a comfortable lead, which he held to the finish.
“It’s amazing how straightforward races can be when you’re running at the front,” he said. “It felt like it did a few years ago when the wins came easily, not like the past few seasons when it’s been a bit of a struggle.
“After my first pitstop I did the fastest lap of the race and the team came on the radio and told me to back off and control the race, which I thought was a little strange because normally you really have to make the most of the fresh tyres to be in a commanding position. But I was already five seconds ahead by that stage.”
With a solid gap to the car behind him, Jamie safely brought the car home for a fantastic win.
“It feels really good. It was a really enjoyable race. Up until the final two races it had been a pretty poor season in terms of results. We had the pace, especially over a longer run, but for whatever reason we couldn’t always show it. So to end the season with two wins is really satisfying and hopefully it will serve me well in my quest to get a good drive for next season.”
Jamie is now taking a well-earned week off before heading back to Hockenheim to demonstrate the C-class DTM racer in front of Mercedes-Benz guests. After that his attention will turn to getting ready for the 2008 season.
