Jamie satisfied with sixth

Jamie satisfied with sixth

Jamie Green carried on his run of points-scoring finishes by coming home sixth in the DTM race in Zandvoort, Holland.

After starting fourth, the quickest of the Mercedes-Benz cars, a poor getaway dropped Jamie to seventh. He made up a place on Paul di Resta in the pitstops, but despite catching team-mate Bruno Spengler in the closing stages he was unable to get near enough to attempt a move for fifth.

“I was definitely quicker than Bruno, but maybe only by a tenth or two,” he said. “If you look at our pace in the race, even if I’d have had a totally mega drive I would have only finished fifth, so to just lose out on one point after making a poor start isn’t too bad a result.”

Jamie has now finished in the top six in every race this season and is just six points behind championship leader Timo Scheider. The next race is at the Nurburgring in Germany. It’s not a track that has been kind to Jamie in the past, so he’s determined to get a result there in two weeks’ time.

“I was a bit surprised by the pace of the Audi’s this weekend, but they were 10kg lighter than us and their car seemed to suit the track better. The weights will be equal next time out and I’m sure the team will have done all it can to close the gap.

“I’ve been quick at the Nurburgring before, but I’ve not had a DTM podium there yet, so it will be good to get a result this time.”
